What is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep Apnea is a condition where breathing is interrupted during sleep. Breathing can slow, become shallow or even stop repeatedly during sleep. The disrupted breathing causes a decrease in oxygen delivery to the body. Over time, the repeated disruption in breathing can cause many physical problems. Heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and work related injuries are all linked to sleep apnea.
At New West Medical, we provide advanced sleep therapy equipment and personalized care to help patients manage sleep apnea and achieve restful, healthy sleep. Whether you need a CPAP, BiPAP, or travel-friendly device, our team ensures your therapy is comfortable, effective, and tailored to your lifestyle—so you can wake up refreshed and ready to breathe easier every day.
What are the main types of Sleep Apnea?
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) - The more common of the two forms of apnea, it is caused by a blockage of the airway, usually when the soft tissue in the back of the throat collapses during sleep.
  • Central Sleep Apnea – When the airway is not blocked, but the brain fails to signal the muscles to breathe due to instability in the respiratory control center.
  • Complex Sleep Apnea – A combination of Central Sleep Apnea, Obstructive Sleep Apnea and insufficient breathing. New West Medical therapists are trained with the most state of the art devices for treating Complex Sleep Apnea.
Why is Sleep Apnea Dangerous?
Sleep Apnea can lead to many serious health issues if not properly treated. High blood pressure, inflammation and clogging of arteries, diabetes, and depression have all been linked to Sleep Apnea. Fortunately Sleep Apnea is treatable and New West Medical has Respiratory Therapists that can help your treatment be successful.
